Our story is deeply rooted in their teachings and examples, guiding our approach to business and customer service.
ALBERTA MCKINLEY (GRANDMA BERT)
Our Founding Inspiration
Alberta McKinley, affectionately known as “Grandma Bert,” was a woman who did not let her circumstances define who she was, who she would become, or how she took care of her family. Born on February 13, 1922, during a time of heightened tension in the South, “Grandma Bert” overcame these obstacles. Despite having just a 6th grade education, she became the first person in our family to be a successful entrepreneur. Grandma Bert owned two successful restaurants for 22 years, along with a daycare and a snowball stand, among other ventures.
With her brilliant mind and business skills, Grandma Bert encouraged our family to own their own businesses. We were taught at an early age the dos and don’ts of running a successful business and the importance of excellent customer service.
As the proud grandson and successful business owner of such an amazing woman, one important lesson my grandmother taught me always stands out: always give customers quality products. I will continue to uphold the matriarch of our family’s legacy and implement the same outstanding principles with every product sold. Selling quality products and providing superior customer service are company standards.
MARY BYERS (GRANDMA MARY)
OUR GUIDING LIGHT
Mary Byers, affectionately known as Grandma Mary, was born on February 18, 1929, in King and Queen County, VA. She taught us analytical skills and patience. Grandma Mary was a quiet, humble woman, but her caring and giving spirit was infectious to all who met her. She believed in family values, honesty, strong morals, and principles.
Serving her community and helping others daily were just some of the great things Grandma Mary loved to do.
As the grandson of Mary Byers, I have taken the honesty, strong morals, and principles that my grandmother taught me to open a supply company in Baltimore, the same city in which she spread her love.
